Versioni alternative: - In the original cut of the film, there was a scene in which Eric Draven has a fight with Funboy in Funboy's apartment before killing him. It goes like this: Eric knocks the straight razor from Darla's hand. Eric makes Darla sober by magically siphoning morhpine from her blood. Darla leaves. Funboy wakes up in the bathtub and grabs the razor. He attacks Eric and cuts his hands and torso. Because Eric has weakened himself by getting the morphine out of Darla, he cannot heal properly. (This would have been explained by the Skull Cowboy, but those scenes were also cut.) To cover the wounds, he wraps them in black electrical tape. This explains why his hands and stomach are wrapped up later in the movie. - On Australian television, all references to the word "fuck" are removed, along with complete sections of dialogue where they appear more than once. The individual death fights involving Tin-Tin, Funboy, T-Bird and Skank, as well as the Eric/Shelley death scene and Draven's attack on Gideon are also shortened. - A scene was cut from the film version in which Skank was shot in the leg by someone robbing the liquor store from which he was ordered to get smokes and road beers. This scene was supposed to show that crime is indiscriminant and even happens to criminals. This is why Skank is limping when he runs after T-Bird's car.

Plot: Eric Draven and his fiance are brutally murdered on Devil's Night, a night when the henchmen of crime-boss Top Dollar traditionally indulge in wanton acts of violence and arson. A crow brings Draven's restless soul back from the dead and he sets out to wreak revenge upon his killers. "People once believed that when you died, a crow took your soul to the land of the dead.....but sometimes, just sometimes, the crow could bring that soul back, to make the wrong things right..." Eric Draven and Shelly Websyter were engaged to be married on October 31.....they were brutally murdered the night before. A year later, the Crow brings Eric's soul back to seek vengeance and earn his eternal rest. On Devils night 2 souls are happy as they are to be married the next day - Halloween. But in the corrupt city that they live, happiness is one of the qualities quickly extinguished when found. Eric Draven and Shelley Webster owned a building and when they complain to the authorities of problems, the authorities send round a ruthless gang to "deal" with the problem. As they rape Shelley while her fiancee' is out shopping, he comes home and is promptly shot and thrown out the high story window, killed on the road below - Shelley dies 20 hours later in intensive care as a result of the attack. 1 Year later... the forces that seem fit to bring these people to justice, as Eric is reincarnated with the spiritual guidance of a crow, as he tracks down the gang members that killed him and his fiancee', appropriately leaving crow symbols as he does, but on the searching of the last and final member, he comes across the power behind the gang, who seems fit to kill off this crow - as he is the ruler of the city. So how does it fall... Is justice sought and done, or is evil the winner overall? Shelly and Eric were very much in love. But no one gets married on Hallowe'en, not in Detroit. Shelly is raped and beaten by city boss Top Dollar's thugs, only to die 30 hours later in a hospital. Eric is shot and pushed out a window. A year later death is no longer what it was as Eric Draven, accompanied by a Crow and gifted with new powers and a world of grief and pain, is brought back to life to avenge his love's death. After all, love is forever. And some of us Believe in Angels.
