Plot: Based on Bruce Wagner's bestselling 1997 novel, "I'm Losing You" is a melodrama of a wealthy Los Angeles family - and the journey each one begins after a death in the family. The title of the film refers not only to the loss of life and love, but to a phrase used by most Angelenos while talking on cellular phones; I'm Losing You... "I'm Losing You" follows the path of each character after a cataclysmic event: the death of Bertie's young daughter Tiffany, in an "accident". One of the ironies of the film is how the entire family comes closer together in the wake of such an event, seeking to recover from a blow that has driven each one to near madness. Nearing his 60th birthday, a movie producer (Frank Langella) discovers that he may have less than a year to live as a result of inoperable cancer. The effects of his disease take the toll on him and his distressed wife (Salome Jens). However, his dysfunctional family are not told and their soap opera-ish life goes on. His son, a has-been actor (Andrew McCarthy), has to deal with a precocious daughter (Aria Noell Curzon) and a drug-addled ex-wife (Gina Gershon) and sells AIDS patients insurance policies until he becomes attracted to one (Elizabeth Perkins) His step-sister learns that her real father murdered her mother & then committed suicide. Obviously little positive events occur with the dour circumstances outlined.
