Plot: The beggar, Hajj, stumbles upon a great deal of money. He buys a house, where his daughter Marsinah meets the Caliph, who is walking amongst his people incognito. Hajj is arrested by the Vizier for begging without a license; the Vizier's wife takes a liking to Hajj and saves his life. Instead of having his hand chopped off, he is flung into the desert. There, he meets the great bandit, who takes him back into the city. The bandit and Hajj come before the Vizier; lo, the Vizier has the other half of the bandit's medallion; he is the bandit's son! The Vizier meets his death, the Caliph marries Marsinah, and Hajj marries the Vizier's wife.
