Versioni alternative: - In the home video version the scene where Beeks drugs the security guard and steals the crop report is not included; this version also deletes the reference to Sunset Blvd. (1950). - US cable television release includes several re-shot scenes, including: - the naked woman in Valentine's bed is now wearing a blanket; - Ophelia tells Valentine to sleep on the couch before she undresses; - Valentine tells the party guests simply to "get out"; - a longer shot from above, showing all the guests dancing, replaces the topless dancing scene. - Television version also adds a scene where Valentine comes into the Duke & Duke building for the first time and people say hello to him, similar to when Winthorp comes in at the beginning. - There is also a sequence in the tv version just after Jamie Lee Curtis brings Dan Akroyd back home for the first time. In the movie version, she is seen topless, but on TV she is seen wearing a bra. - In the home video version the scene where Beeks drugs the security guard and steals the crop report is not included; this version also deletes the reference to Sunset Blvd. (1950). - US cable television release includes several re-shot scenes, including: - the naked woman in Winthorp's bed is now wearing a blanket; - Ophelia tells Winthorp to sleep on the couch before she undresses; - Valentine tells the party guests simply to "get out"; - a longer shot from above, showing all the guests dancing, replaces the topless dancing scene. Plot: Louis Winthorpe III is a successful New York commodity broker with mansion, manservant and girlfriend to match. Billy Ray Valentine is a hustling beggar. Winthorpe's employers, the elderly Duke brothers, make a bet that by switching the lifestyle of the two Billy Ray will make good and their man will take to a life of crime. Suddenly Louis finds himself uncomprehendingly with no job, no home and only a new acquaintance, glamourous hooker Ophelia, prepared to help him. So at least in one way things could actually be worse. Mortimer and Randolph Duke are commodity brokers who enjoy a little wager now and then. For the latest bet, Randolph believes they can take a common criminal and make him a successful businessman in the company. The criminal, Billy Ray, is to be given the job and home of Louis, who in turn is set up for crimes he didn't commit, to see if he resorts to crime once he's lost his rich environment and friends.
